Adelitas Way. I’ve heard the name but am not quite up to speed on the band. Either way, I wanted to post “Invincible.” I wouldn’t venture to say that the song is amazing (or even all that good) but it reminds me of the slightly harder Top 40 rock I used to listen to in the late 90s/early 2000s. For some reason, it makes me think of Linkin Park and Staind. Am I crazy?
I’m sharing this video because it made me chuckle in an awkward, why-am-I-still-listening-to-this kind of way. Regardless, it’s just poppy and young enough to be a radio hit. We’ll just have to wait and see…
According to rnb music blog, a new track by Beyonce called “Poison” has leaked. The song is to be featured on DJ Haze’s upcoming mixtape called “Big R&B Ego.”
The song itself isn’t all that impressive but it’s a formulaic Beyonce song. If she makes a video for it, there’s an 80% chance it’ll be a hit. And even the video can be formulaic…
Colbie Caillat has released the video for “Fallin’ for You”, the lead single for her upcoming sophomore album.
At the start of the video, I was a little annoyed that it was yet another California-girl/beach video. Yes, we get it. You like the beach but I’d like to a little diversity in the images. As the video progressed, I grew a little softer. At least, this one had a storyline of sorts.
Chrisette Michele has released a video for her new single “What You Do” featuring Ne-Yo. It’s a formulaic r&b/neo-soul song but their voices work well together and it’s worth a listen. It’s less of a duet than a solo track with Ne-Yo’s voice occassionally in the background. But if Akon can get credit for making a few noises on a Gwen Stefani chorus, anything goes…
Busta’s back with a Top 40/club friendly track. “World Go Round” seems to be a challenge to The Black Eyed Peas and Flo Rida for Hip-Pop music. Estelle sings the chorus but doesn’t really add that much to the song. I’m thinking she should’ve rapped a little…
There is no thought or singing involved in this video but I like it because it reminds me of a British pop group doing exactly what American hip-hop artists like Souljha Boy do. Take well know songs and phrases, mix them with heavy bass and amazingly you have a song. Who knew?
“Get Sexy” plays off of Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy and The Tings Tings’ “Shut Up and Let Me Go”
A new song from Tank. The name pretty much gives it away. With his typical staccato, ghetto style, Tank tells us it’s both of our faults we got into a fight but now it’s time to make up. “I know I shouldn’tve have cussed out your mom but ya’ll shouldn’tve showed up trippin’ at my job.” Priceless.
Wow. With her “friend” Shannelle a.k.a. SnL, the Danity Kane alumnus has released a remake of Eddie Murphy’s 80′s “classic.” I have to say that I’m against it all but needed to share.
